When speed and convenience are essential, Maestro PayPass™ is the new contactless way to pay - a simple tap of your card is all it takes to pay at the checkout for items of €25/£15 or less.1

How do you use it?

  • Look for the Maestro PayPass™ logo and contactless identifier symbol on the card reader.
  • Tap your card on this symbol.
  • Look for the green lights, listen for the beep (which indicates the transaction is successful) and go.

That's it, you're on your way. No need to enter your PIN!2

You can use PayPass™ anywhere you see the PayPass symbol at a checkout - simply ‘Tap & Go™’.

Maestro PayPass™ offers you speed and convenience, with complete peace of mind. Maestro has the most stringent security measures in place, and with secure encryption Maestro PayPass™ provides the same level of security.

1Note: The actual contactless limit varies from country to country. The standard European Maestro PayPass™ transaction ceiling limit for countries in which the Euro is the official currency is €25. European countries where the Euro is not the official currency will have the Maestro PayPass™ transaction ceiling limit expressed in their own local currency which may, in some cases, convert to more or less than €25 (in the UK, the current limit is £15). Additionally, in some countries in Europe (Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, the Russian Federation, Slovakia and Turkey) Maestro PayPass™ transactions are permitted above the listed transaction ceiling limit provided the cardholder enters their PIN for online verification.

2Note: These steps apply unless the transaction is for more than the country Maestro PayPass™ transaction limit, or if the transaction is conducted with a card issued in one of the countries listed above where a Maestro PayPass™ transaction may take place above the listed limit provided the cardholder enters their PIN for online verification. Also, to ensure cardholders security, after a random number of uses you may be asked to enter your PIN to verify that you are the authorized cardholder.
